Sprue creation-no gates specified

Once a mold has been generated, you should define the sprue location. This is the point where the plastic enters the mold.

  1. Click (Geometry tab > Feed System panel > Runner Wizard).

The Runner System Wizard dialog appears.

The mold moves to the Front view, the modeling grid is displayed, and the sprue location is shown in the default position.

  2. To define the sprue location, either:
    • Click the modeling grid at the location of the sprue. You can re-select the position until you are satisfied with the location.
    • Enter X and Y coordinates from the origin.
    • Click the Middle of the Mold button. The sprue location will snap to the middle of the mold.
  3. In the Sprue section, click Browse to set the type, shape and diameter of the sprue, and then click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog.
  4. If necessary, deselect the Create runners and/or Create gates checkbox, and then click OK to create the runner system.
Note: If you deselect the Create runners and/or Create gates checkbox, you will have to add the rest of the runner system manually. Deselecting the Create gates checkbox automatically deselects the Create runners option.
  5. Click Close to close the dialog.
Note:
  • If you decide to change the location of your sprue, repeat steps 1–5. However, repeating these steps deletes the sprue, runners and gates previously created.
  • You can also create a sprue if you already have gates specified.
