Once a mold has been generated, you should define the sprue location. This is the point where the plastic enters the mold.
- Click ().
The Runner System Wizard dialog appears.
The mold moves to the
Front
view, the modeling grid is displayed, and the sprue location is shown in the default position.
- To define the sprue location, either:
- Click the modeling grid at the location of the sprue. You can re-select the position until you are satisfied with the location.
- Enter X and Y coordinates from the origin.
- Click the Middle of the Mold button. The sprue location will snap to the middle of the mold.
- In the Sprue section, click Browse to set the type, shape and diameter of the sprue, and then click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog.
- If necessary, deselect the Create runners and/or Create gates checkbox, and then click OK to create the runner system.
Note: If you deselect the Create runners and/or Create gates checkbox, you will have to add the rest of the runner system manually. Deselecting the Create gates checkbox automatically deselects the Create runners option.
- Click Close to close the dialog.
Note:
- If you decide to change the location of your sprue, repeat steps 1–5. However, repeating these steps deletes the sprue, runners and gates previously created.
- You can also create a sprue if you already have gates specified.
