Sprue creation-gates specified

Once a mold has been generated, you should define the sprue location. This is the point where the plastic enters the mold.

  1. Click Sprue (Geometry tab > Feed System panel > Sprue).

    The Create sprue dialog appears.

The mold moves to the Front view, the modeling grid is displayed, and the sprue location is shown in the default position.

  2. To define the sprue location, either:
    • Click the modeling grid at the location of the sprue. You can re-select the position until you are satisfied with the location.
    • Enter X and Y coordinates from the origin.
    • Click the Middle of the mold button. The sprue location will snap to the middle of the mold.
  3. In the Sprue Properties section, click Browse to set the type, shape and diameter of the sprue, and then click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog.
Note: The length text box indicates the length of the sprue based on the A Plate dimensions.
  4. If necessary, select the Display Grid and/or Snap to grid options.
Tip: Use the Grid Defaults button to change the grid properties.
  5. Click Apply to create the sprue, and then click Close.
  6. Create runners to connect the sprue and gate(s).
Note: You can also create a sprue if you have no gates specified
