Once a mold has been generated, you should define the sprue location. This is the point where the plastic enters the mold.
- Click ().
The Create sprue dialog appears.
The mold moves to the
Front
view, the modeling grid is displayed, and the sprue location is shown in the default position.
- To define the sprue location, either:
- Click the modeling grid at the location of the sprue. You can re-select the position until you are satisfied with the location.
- Enter X and Y coordinates from the origin.
- Click the Middle of the mold button. The sprue location will snap to the middle of the mold.
- In the Sprue Properties section, click to set the type, shape and diameter of the sprue, and then click OK to apply the changes and close the dialog.
Note: The length text box indicates the length of the sprue based on the
A Plate
dimensions.
- If necessary, select the Display Grid and/or Snap to grid options.
Tip: Use the Grid Defaults button to change the grid properties.
- Click Apply to create the sprue, and then click Close.
- Create runners to connect the sprue and gate(s).
Note: You can also create a sprue if you have no gates specified
