Working with materials (tutorial)

In this tutorial you will learn how to find materials in the default database, and add commonly-used materials to a personal database.

The polymer used in the manufacture of a part affects the processing and product characteristics of the finished part.

The default database includes specific information on over 7,750 different materials. This ensures accurate analysis based on the material selected.

A simple yet powerful search facility helps you to find an appropriate material for your given application.

Note: Throughout this tutorial it is assumed that metric units are used.
To change units:
  1. Select File > Options.
  2. Select General tab.
  3. Select Metric units from the Active units drop-down menu.
  4. Click OK.
  1. Select a material using supplier and trade names
    Use the material database search facility to select a polymer, using the name of the supplier and the trade name of the material.
