Placing a Railing During Stair or Ramp Creation

Set up automatic railing placement for stair or ramp creation.

You can select the railing type, and for a stair, specify whether to position the railing on the treads or stringers.

1. Select one of the following commands:
   • Architecture tabCirculation panel (Ramp).
   • Architecture tabCirculation panel (Stair by Component).
   • Architecture tabCirculation panelStair drop-down (Stair by Sketch).
2. On the Tools panel, click (Railing).
3. In the Railing dialog, select the type of railing. (The railing type can also be changed after it is created.)
   Note: If you do not wish to have the railing created automatically, select None. A railing can be added later with the Railing (Place on Host) tool.
4. For placement on stairs only: Under Position, select Treads or Stringer to specify where to position the railing.
5. Click OK.
6. Continue with stair or ramp creation.
7. To complete the stair or ramp, click (Finish Edit Mode).
