The Heat Exchanger material device simulates a physical heat exchanger without a detailed finite element mesh.
In effect, the heat exchanger part is replaced with boundary conditions on the two common interface surfaces of the fluid domain. Currently, there are four types of heat exchangers. The governing equation and the heat exchanger boundary condition formulations are shown for each heat exchanger type:
