Certain simulation types create large files or a large number of files that cause long upload and download times between your local computer and Autodesk® 360:
- Radiation simulations
- Transient simulations with many saved time steps
- Free surface simulations
There are four Flag settings that can improve the upload and download times for these simulation types:
-
restart_from_gbi
- Enable this flag to prevent the Solver from saving the mesh and boundary condition files. The information is stored with the model instead of as separate, external files.
- 0 = off; 1 = on
- The result is a reduction in the amount of time needed to download results and to continue existing simulations.
- This flag is useful for very large models.
-
send_rvq_file
- Enable this flag to prevent the radiation file from being uploaded to and downloaded from the Autodesk® 360 instance.
- 0 = off; 1 = on
- The result is a reduction in the amount of time to download results and to continue existing simulations.
- This flag is useful for large radiation models.
-
send_intermediate_res_files
- Set the value of this flag to 0 to prevent intermediate results files from being downloaded from Autodesk® 360 to the local workstation.
- 0 = no intermediate results files are saved; 1 = intermediate results files are saved
- The result is a reduction in the amount of time to download results. Note that no intermediate results files or time steps are saved to the local workstation, but you will still be able to animate results.
- This flag is useful for large transient simulations, such a free surface, that include many saved intermediate time steps.
-
send_res_files
- Set the value of this flag to 0 to prevent all results files from being downloaded from Autodesk® 360 to the local workstation.
- 0 = no results files are saved; 1 = results files are saved.
- The result is faster downloads to the local workstation and less time to continue the simulation.
- This flag is useful for large simulations that you start and stop multiple times. The flag prevents the download of results files each time you stop the simulation. Note that you can animate your results with this flag set to 0. At the conclusion of the simulation, you can set this flag to 1 to download and save all intermediate results files.
You can use the Flag Manager to enable these flags.
