In an Electrostatic Field Strength and Voltage Analysis, the output consists of voltage at nodes and electric and displacement fields (vectors) at element centroids.
The following table summarizes this analysis type:
Electrostatic Field Strength and Voltage |
|
Analysis | Electrostatic field analysis |
Variables | Potential (V) |
Input: |
|
Constants | Permittivity constant |
Constraints | Potential (V) at boundaries |
Nodal loads | Point charges |
Element loads | Charge density |
Output: |
|
Nodal | Potential (V) |
Element centroid | Electrical and displacement fields (Vectors) |
The software calculates the permittivity constant (permittivity of free space, or permittivity in a vacuum). It uses a default value of 8.85419E-12 (ampere*sec)/(V*m), converted to the units set in the model. This value can be checked in the summary file. Keep in mind that 1 coulomb equals 1 ampere*second.
