Manage Ownership in SolidWorks

With Workgroup Replication enabled, you can manage ownership of a file from within SolidWorks.

To change an object in a connected workgroup, you must belong to the workgroup that has ownership of that object. When taking ownership of an object, you select the length of time during which no one else can take ownership. This length of time is called a lease. When the lease expires, you maintain ownership until another user requests ownership of the object. See the Autodesk Vault Wiki.

In a connected workgroup, ownership can apply to:

• Specific files and folders
• Administrative tasks

Manage Ownership of a File

1. Right-click on the file and select Manage Ownership.
2. In the Manage Ownership dialog box, select the length of time your workgroup will own the file.
