Open and Place Pro/ENGINEER Files from Vault

You can open files from Vault in various ways, including checking them out or viewing them as read-only content.

If you decide to check out one of the files, it must exist on the Vault server and not already be checked out. If you want to place the files, you need to open them first.

Open a file from Vault

1. Click File > Autodesk Vault > Open From Vault.

   The Open From Vault dialog box opens.

2. Navigate to the file you want to open.
3. Select the revision you want in the Revision box.
4. Optional: Click Versions to browse available versions.
5. Optional: Click Released Biased to specify whether you want to choose released files if available for the chosen revision.
6. Use the open option that suits you.
   • Open (Check out): Open a file and check it out.
   • Open (Check out all): Open the selected file and check out all files in the folder.
   • Open (Read only): Open the file in read-only mode without checking it out.
   • Download only: Download the file to the current folder without opening it.

Place a file (Component) from Vault

1. Click File > Autodesk Vault > Place From Vault.

   The Open From Vault dialog opens; the Place From Vault option is selected.

2. Navigate to the file you want to open.
3. Select the revision you want in the Revision box.
4. Optional: Click Released Biased to specify whether you want to choose released files if available for the chosen revision.

In Pro/ENGINEER, Add Component To Assembly is enabled automatically.
