Installation, Operation, and System Requirements
The information in this section addresses the installation, system, hardware, and server requirements for installing Autodesk Vault Basic, Workgroup, and Professional 2014
Installation Requirements
Your installation requirements depend on whether you have installed a previous version of the Autodesk Data Management Server.

Users with a previous version of Autodesk Data Management Server
- Upgrade to Microsoft SQL 2008 Express Service Pack 3 prior to installing the latest version of Vault.
- Install service pack 3 for Microsoft SQL 2008 Express prior to installing the latest version of Vault.
If previous versions of the Autodesk Data Management Server installed Microsoft ® SQL 2005 Express:

If no previous version of a SQL server is detected, or if you are not connecting to an existing remote SQL instance, Microsoft ® SQL Server 2008 Express service pack 3 is installed by default.

When using the Autodesk Data Management Server on a workstation, it can support approximately ten simultaneous vault clients. Additional users can be supported by installing the Autodesk Data Management Server on a Windows server operating system.
If a compatible local SQL database is detected during installation, you are prompted to migrate the data once the installation is complete.
Operating System Requirements
Verify that your operating systems meet the requirements for the systems on which you plan to run the Vault client and the Vault Server.
Autodesk Data Management Server Operating System Requirements
Autodesk Vault server supports both 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. All operating systems listed in the following table are 32-bit. Supported 64-bit operating systems are also indicated.

For data management client add-ins, the system requirements are that of the design application.
Microsoft SQL Requirements
Autodesk Vault 2014 installs Microsoft SQL 2008 Express. The minimum requirement for Autodesk Vault 2014 is Microsoft SQL 2008 Express service pack 3. Service pack 3 for SQL 2008 must be applied before installing Autodesk Vault 2014.

Supporting Components Requirements
Additional requirements must be met if you plan on using the Vault Web Client and any of the Office or Outlook Vault Add-ins.

Meet these additional requirements before you continue with the Vault installation.
Additional Requirements
- A DVD drive is required, to install off of disk.
- Operating Systems installation media.
- Internet connection for Web downloads, Subscription Aware access, and Vault Help.
- We recommend settings that allow Microsoft Windows to manage virtual memory as needed. Keep at least twice as much free hard disk space as system memory.
