Manage Chart Elements

Note: The Data Mapping feature is available only in Autodesk Vault Workgroup, Collaboration, and Professional editions.

The ability to manipulate chart elements makes it easier to customize how you view your report data when it is mapped. The chart control allows you to override chart colors, create a selection set of files in Inventor based on chart elements and the mapped components, and retrieve a data card deck for the mapped components through a convenient context menu.

Select Chart Elements

When you map report data, all chart elements are mapped to the model by default. However, you can select individual chart elements in the report and map only those elements. Additionally, you can manipulate the way the data is displayed on the open model.

There are three ways to select chart elements. Once the chart elements are selected, use the context menu to customize how the data is mapped or viewed.

• Click a single element in the chart to select it. The element is outlined in red.
• Hold the Control button and click multiple chart elements to select multiple chart elements and act on those elements using the context menu.
• Double-click different chart elements to separate them from the chart. When Map Data is turned on or the data mapping is refreshed, only the separated pieces are mapped on the model.

Once a selection is made, click Clear Color Mapping or Isolation to update the data mapping or to update the isolation.

Note: Changes to element selection and color overrides are not mapped onto the model until you update the mapping.

Context Menu Options

A context menu provides additional options for manipulating mapped data and customizing the view.

Command	Definition
Override Color	Allows you to specify a different color for a chart element.
Reset	Removes a color override.
Selection Set	Creates a selection set from the components corresponding to the selected chart elements. The corresponding components are selected in the browser as well as the canvas.
Add to Selection Set	Includes the components corresponding to the chart element to the current selection set.
Get Data Cards	Retrieves data cards for each of the currently mapped components.
