Define the Material Properties

We will now assign the material properties to all four parts. We can assign the properties for the arm and knob at once since they have the same element type and material properties.

1. Right-click the Material heading for Part 1 in the browser (tree view) and select Edit Material.
   • Select Steel (ASTM-A36) under the Steel ASTM folder  within the Element Material Selection dialog.  The properties display in the section to the right.
   • Click OK.
2. Select the Material heading for Part 2 in the browser.
3. Hold  down the Ctrl key and click the Material heading for Part 3 in the browser.
4. Right-click  one of the selected headings and select Edit Material. 
   • Select Aluminum (6061-T6; 6061-T651) under the Aluminum folder within the Element Material Selection dialog.
   • Click OK.
5. Right-click the Material heading for Part 4 in the browser and select Edit Material.
   • Select Aluminum (6061-T6; 6061-T651).
   • Click OK.
