The solution-dependent Simulation Composite Analysis state variables track constitutive quantities of interest at each integration point in the model.
The number of solution-dependent Simulation Composite Analysis state variables is defined via the second argument of the COMPAN or COHAN commands in the input file. The default naming convention for the solution-dependant MCT state variables is SVARi, where i=1,2,3,…,7 or 35 (or 90). The most useful of the MCT state variables is SVAR1, which tracks the discrete failure state of the composite material at each integration point in the finite element model. The exact interpretation of the discrete values of SVAR1 will depend upon the exact set of Simulation Composite Analysis material features used in the analysis. Appendix C provides a complete description of each MCT state variable for composite materials, including tables that define the interpretation of SVAR1 for various combinations of material features. Appendix D describes each MCT state variable for cohesive materials.
These MCT state variables are not written to the database unless explicitly requested in the ANSYS input file. Listed below is a method for requesting SVAR output to the results file:
