To Create a Material Definition

Use this procedure to create a definition for the material you wish to use.

  1. Click Manage tabStyle & Display panelStyle Manager.

    The Style Manager is displayed with the current drawing expanded in the tree view.

  2. Expand Multi-Purpose Objects, and expand Material Definitions.
  3. Create a material definition:
    If you want to… Then…
    create a new definition with default properties right-click Material Definitions, and click New.
    create a new definition from an existing definition right-click the material definition you want to copy, and click Copy. Right-click, and click Paste.
  4. Enter a name for the new material definition, and press Enter.
  5. Edit the properties of your new definition:
    If you want to… Then…
    enter a description of the material definition click General. Enter a description of the material definition.

    change the hatching patterns see [Reference to WScedd0d2069f88934b1c260fa25666a50-7fe6].
    assign surface hatching to individual object faces see [Reference to WScedd0d2069f88934b1c260fa25666a50-7fe5].
    assign surface and live section rendering materials see [Reference to WScedd0d2069f88934b1c260fa25666a50-7fe4].
    exclude components from 2D shrinkwrap see [Reference to WScedd0d2069f88934b1c260fa25666a50-7fe3].
    add notes, files, or documents to the definition see [Reference to WScedd0d2069f88934b1c260fa25666a50-7fe2].
  6. When you finish changing the material definition properties, click OK.
