You can use this command to overlay a drawing of a 2D factory layout, in DWG format, onto the factory floor. Using the Snap to DWG Overlay snap type, factory assets can then be placed and oriented into their proper locations using the 2D layout as a guide.

New File dialog | Select the appropriate Factory Layout.iam template based on the system of units (inches or millimeters) used in the 2D drawing layout. |
Select DWG file dialog | Navigate to and select the 2D DWG file to overlay onto the factory floor. |
Pop-up context menu commands (right-click over the DWG browser node to access):
Update | There is associativity between the 2D drawing and the 3D factory layout. If any revisions occur to the original drawing file, use Update to read the changes back into Inventor Factory. |
Reposition | Moves and/or rotates the DWG overlay on the factory floor using a triad. |
Layer Settings | Toggles drawing layer visibility on and off using the Layer Settings dialog box. |
Transform | Uses dialog box values to move, rotate, and scale a DWG overlay on the factory floor. |
Crop Overlay | Trims and removes unwanted portions of a DWG overlay. |
Remove Crop | Restores the trimmed portions of a cropped overlay. This option is only available after an overlay has been cropped. |
Open Overlay in AutoCAD | Launches AutoCAD and opens the DWG from which the factory layout was created. Make any required changes, save the drawing, and use Update to update the factory layout. |
Auto-place 3D Assets | Replaces any 2D assets from AutoCAD Factory on the overlay with Inventor Factory 3D equivalents. |
Delete | Removes a DWG overlay from the factory floor. |
