Move Models With Grip Snap - Reference

Provides a mini-toolbar with the options to move a selected model by its edge or by a point.

Access:

Ribbon: Factory tab Position panel Grip Snap

With the Grip Snap command active, a mini-toolbar displays after an edge or point is selected. The mini-toolbar varies depending on whether an edge or a point was selected, but it always contains the Free Drag and Back Buttons.

Point as first selection, followed by:
Move Option Selection Second Selection Third Selection Result for selection set:
Free Drag Click floor   Moves so the selection point is coincident with the click location on the floor.
Click in space or on another model   Moves so the selection point is coincident with the click location.
Point   Moves so the selection point is coincident with the second selected point.
Line   Moves so the selection point is coincident with the click location on the line.
Move Point Using Reference Geometry Point Point Moves the direction and distance defined by the two points.
Line   Moves the direction and distance from the closest end point to the farthest end point.
Rotate About Point Enter value   Enter the amount of rotation in the XY plane in the Heads-Up Display (HUD) and press Enter.
None   Drag the model and click when the model rotates the desired amount.

Free Drag Click floor   Moves so the selection point on the line is coincident with the click location on the floor.
Click in space or on another model   Moves so the selection point on the line is coincident with the click location.
Point   Moves so the selection point on the line is coincident with the point.
Line   Moves so the lines are collinear and the selection point on the line is coincident with the click location on the second line.
Drag Along Ray Enter value   Enter the distance in the Heads-Up Display (HUD) and press Enter.
Click   Drag the model and click when the model moves the desired amount.
Move Along Ray Using Reference Geometry Point Point Moves the distance between the two points. The preview arrow on the line indicates the direction.
Line   Moves the distance defined by the length of the second selected line. The preview arrow on the line indicates the direction.
