Layers are used in both the Opus drawing package and in Tool/Layer Mapping. To use and set up Layers select File 
Setup Database and click on the Manufacturing Layers section or select the Database icon from the Utility Bar.
There are 2 Layer types that can be created, those that can be used in a Process, such as cutting or marking, and those that are for Display purposes only, such as Development Line layers.
To create a new Layer click on the New icon

A new layer will be created where you have the options to then change the Layer Colour, Name the Layer and in the Process Tab, assign a Tool to that Layer.
