About Styles
Styles allow users to visually display data a specific way in the model.
- Styles can be applied to features or feature classes through the Style Palette, the Style Rules panel, the Properties Palette, and during data configuration.
- The simplest way to apply a style to a feature is to select a draw style then sketch a new feature, or drag a style from the Style Palette and drop it onto the desired feature.
- InfraWorks 360 stores styles in style catalogs for each feature class. Users can create, edit and manage styles and style catalogs through the Style Palette. Users can also import style catalogs in a .STYLES.JSON format, or add 3D models to style catalogs as "instanced styles."
- Advanced users can also create and run scripts to stylize data.
Select Draw Style
Styles are initially applied to sketched features when a user selects a draw tool for the desired feature class. The Select Draw Style catalog will display available styles for the feature class. See Sketch Features for more information.
Style Existing Features
To change the style of a existing feature, select the feature then drag a style from the Style Palette and drop it on to the selected feature or surface. Styles can also be applied to any feature or feature class through the Style Rules panel, and the Manual Style field for a selected feature using the Properties Palette .
Style catalogs are collections of styles by feature class.
- Create, edit, and manage styles and style catalogs through the Style Palette.
- Import or export style catalogs in a .STYLES.JSON format.
- Add a 3D model style or material style to a style catalog
A Style Rule applies visual styles to features or feature classes, based on an expression. For example, if you import building data containing several types of buildings, you can define style rules that apply different styles to the buildings based on data source property values. If you don't create an expression for a Style Rule, the Style Rule you create will apply to the entire feature class.
Note: Style Rules and Rule Styles are different.
- A Style Rule is a way of assigning visual styles to individual features or feature classes using an expression.
- A Rule Style is a model property that can apply visual styles to imported data based on properties of the original data source, or by using styles in the style catalogs.
The Rule Style property appears in the Data Source Configuration dialog box for imported data during
import and
configuration.
Use the Rule Style property to:
- Specify a default style for imported data.
- Specify a data source property as the Rule Style, then create Style Rules for individual values of the data source property.
Note: The Manual Style property overrides the Rule Style property for selected features. Edit the Manual Style property in the
Properties Palette.
