To remove the Revit software, use the Autodesk Uninstall Tool. See FAQ: After installation, how can I uninstall the product?
During the process, the following files in UserDataCache are deleted, unless they have been previously modified:
- MaterialUIConfig.xml
- OmniClassTaxonomy.txt
- Revit.ini
- shxfontmap.txt
- UniformatClassifications.txt
Note: Files in the user profile folder are not affected by the uninstall process.
Alternative Uninstall Instructions
In some cases, the standard uninstall process may leave behind some residual files and settings, which may interfere with a successful reinstallation of the software. When you need to completely remove the Revit software from a computer, including all residual files and settings, use the following procedure.
In these instructions, substitute the current Windows login name for %username%, and the appropriate language code for ENU or English, where needed. Also, the paths listed reflect Autodesk Revit 2015. If you are using another edition of the Revit software, substitute the appropriate values, as follows:
- Autodesk Revit Architecture 2015 or RAC 2015
- Autodesk Revit Structure 2015 or RST 2015
- Autodesk Revit MEP 2015 or RME 2015
- Autodesk Revit LT 2015 or RLT 2015
- Autodesk Revit 2015 or RVT 2015
Note: Some of the folders listed below may not apply to your Revit installation.
To uninstall the Revit software using the alternative method
- Back up any custom Revit family files or template files.
- Log on as a Local System Administrator, and disable anti-virus software.
- Using the Uninstall tool, remove Autodesk Revit 2015 and its sub-components.
- Use Microsoft® Windows Explorer to locate and delete the following Revit 2015 files and folders (and subfolders, where they exist):

- Autodesk\Revit 2015
- Autodesk\Revit Content 2015 English
In C:\ProgramData\Autodesk\
- Revit\Addins\2015
- Revit\Macros\2015\Revit
- Revit Server
- RVT 2015

In C:\Users\%username%\AppData\
The following folders (and their subfolders and files) are specific to each Windows user account. They are created when users start the software. These files are not removed by the uninstall process and can be removed manually, if desired. If you retain the files, most of the user settings are used when you reinstall and start the software.

- Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Autodesk Revit 2015
- Roaming\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\2015

Note: The C:\Users\All Users folder is hidden by default. In the file browser, change the following folder options:
- Enable "Show hidden files, folders, and drives"
- Disable "Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)"
The following folders (and their subfolders and files) are created when users start the software. They are not removed by the uninstall process and can be removed manually, if desired. If you retain the files, many of them are used when you reinstall and start the software.

- If you do not use any other Autodesk software, use Microsoft® Windows Explorer to locate and delete the following Autodesk files and folders (and subfolders, where they exist):
Caution: Deleting these files and folders may interfere with the proper functioning of other Autodesk applications on the computer. Delete them only if you are sure that they are not required.

- Open the system registry, and locate and delete the following registry keys.
