In 3ds Max 2009 and higher, any Photometric Light can be turned into a Free_Lightlight by setting its .type property to #Free_Point. See Photometric Light Classes for details.
In versions prior to 3ds Max 2009, the class with the same ClassID was called Free_Point. The name is still available as Constructor alias.
