Overflow Well (Midplane) dialog-Mold Temperature Profile

The Mold Temperature Profile tab of this dialog is used to select the temperature profile for the selected elements or regions.

The collection of property values defined on the dialog are saved to a property set with the description shown in the Name box. In addition, you may be given the option to also apply the property values to related entities in the model.

Dialog elements

Mold surface temperature controller: Top
The Mold surface temperature controller: Top box is used to select and/or edit the predefined temperature profiles.

The drop-down box contains a list of previously used profiles. Select the profile and, if required, edit and rename the profile to be applied to the selected area of the model.

The Edit button allows you to modify the selected profile.

The Select button allows you to select a profile to be edited, exported, searched or displayed.

Note: The term Top refers to the blue side of a Midplane mesh or the outer surface of a Dual Domain or 3D mesh.
Mold surface temperature controller: Bottom
The Mold surface temperature controller: Bottom box is used to select and/or edit the predefined temperature profiles.

The drop-down box contains a list of previously used profiles. Select the profile and, if required, edit and rename the profile to be applied to the selected area of the model.

The Edit button allows you to modify the selected profile.

The Select button allows you to select a profile to be edited, exported, searched or displayed.

Note: The term Bottom refers to the red side of a Midplane mesh.
Cavity/core side assignment
This option relates to the temperature boundary condition for a Fill+Pack analysis.
Mold material
Specifies the mold material in contact with the selected model feature.

The available options are:

Use global setting in advanced options
Select this option if you do not want to specify a local mold material in contact with this model feature.
Select a different top mold material
Select this option if you want to specify a local mold material, different to the mold material specified in the advanced options, in contact with the top side of this model feature.
Select a different bottom mold material
Select this option if you want to specify a local mold material, different to the mold material specified in the advanced options, in contact with the bottom side of this model feature.
Select different top and bottom mold materials
Select this option if you want to specify a local mold material, different to the mold material specified in the advanced options, in contact with the top and bottom side of this model feature.
Note: The top and bottom side of a Midplane element corresponds to the blue and red faces respectively in the Mesh Orientation diagnostic display.
Note: Selecting a different mold material is a simple way to model the interface between the part and a mold insert, but you will get more accurate heat transfer results by modeling the insert as a separate volume.
