Make sure you have modeled cooling channels, set the Analysis Sequence to include a Cool (FEM) analysis, and have selected a transient solver from the Mold temperature options in the Process Settings Wizard. In addition, make sure you have programmed the injection molding cycle appropriately in the Process Settings Wizard, including mold open time, mold close time before injection, and Injection + packing + cooling time, and that you make a note of these timings. The timings you set for rapid mold heating and cooling, must coincide with the settings you program for the injection molding cycle.
Note: For ease of programming, it is recommended that you Specify the injection + packing + cooling time, rather than using the Automatic option, and select the Conduction solver from the Cool (FEM) Solver Parameters dialog.
- Click on the rapid heating and cooling inlet so that it turns pink, then right-click and select Properties from the drop-down menu.
- Ensure that Time controlled has been selected from the Saturated steam heating drop-down list, then click Specify.
- Enter appropriate settings. These will depend upon the temperature you would like the mold to reach and the injection molding cycle settings you have programmed in the Process Settings Wizard.
- Click OK to close the dialog.
- Repeat the steps for Water cooling.
- Click OK to close the Rapid Heating and Cooling inlet dialog.
