You can set properties for the whole system, for the inlets and outlets, and also for the circuit elements.
Note: if the Dalton Browser is not available, click
Browser in the
Visibility panel to display it.
To select a calculation method for minor losses
- In the Dalton Browser, expand the Properties category.
- Select one of the following calculation methods:
- Calculate except when K factor specified (Default)
If this option is selected and no K factor has been supplied, the minor losses are calculated automatically. If K factors have been supplied, Dalton uses them to calculate the minor losses.
-
Don't calculate (use specified K factors)
If this option is selected, the provided K factors are used to calculate minor losses.
- Calculate & add them to the specified values If this option is selected, minor losses are calculated and added to the specified K factors
To set up inlets and outlets
You must set up at least one inlet and one outlet.
- In the Dalton Browser, expand the Boundary Nodes category, to display the list of nodes available in the circuit.
- Select the node that you want to use as an inlet, and then expand its content.
- Select Inlet from the Type list.
- Select a type of constraint for the node from the Constraint list, and enter a value for this constraint if required.
- If necessary, modify the temperature of the fluid.
- Repeat the steps above to create an outlet, but this time select Outlet from the Type list.
