Miscellaneous Enhancements

Improved Global Mesh Refinement Results

In the Simulation Mechanical 2015 R1 release (August 2014), the results of the Global Mesh Refinement process have been changed as follows:

These changes make the Global Mesh Refinement results consistent with the default results contours in Simulation Mechanical, as reflected in the plot legend. The method is also consistent with the basis of the results from the Local Mesh Refinement process.

Note: An additional enhancement of this tool was implemented to support cloud solving using the Nastran processor. See the Cloud Solving Capability Enhancements page.

Improved Parametric Study Results

In the Simulation Mechanical 2015 R1 release (August 2014), the results of the Parametric Study process have been changed as follows:

These changes make the Parametric Study results consistent with the default results contours in Simulation Mechanical, as reflected in the plot legend.

Note: Parametric Studies must be solved locally when using a Nastran processor. Cloud solving is only available for Parametric Studies when the native SimMech processor is used.

Check Log Available from Output Bar

In addition to the solution log and summary files, a Check Log is now available for viewing in the Output Bar. This log is generated when you perform a Check Model operation, when you run a simulation, or when you export a model to the Nastran Editor.

The Check Log can help you to troubleshoot a model when you encounter problems. This log lists various model statistics as well as errors and warnings encountered during the decoding process, such as when distorted elements are detected.

To see the Check Log:

  1. Go to the Details tab of the Output Bar.
  2. Select View Check Log from the drop-down menu under the Analysis Information heading.
Note: To distinguish between the check log and the solution log (formerly accessed using the View Log option), the solution log option has been renamed View Solve Log. The Solve Log is the default file displayed when you first access the Details tab of the Output Bar.
