Installation Requirements
Your installation requirements depend on whether you have installed a previous version of the Autodesk Data Management Server.

Users with a previous version of Autodesk Data Management Server
- Upgrade to Microsoft SQL 2008 Express Service Pack 3 prior to installing the latest version of Vault.
- Install service pack 3 for Microsoft SQL 2008 Express prior to installing the latest version of Vault.
If previous versions of the Autodesk Data Management Server installed Microsoft ® SQL 2005 Express:

If no previous version of a SQL server is detected, or if you are not connecting to an existing remote SQL instance, Microsoft ® SQL Server 2008 Express service pack 3 is installed by default.

When using the Autodesk Data Management Server on a workstation, it can support approximately ten simultaneous vault clients. Additional users can be supported by installing the Autodesk Data Management Server on a Windows server operating system.
If a compatible local SQL database is detected during installation, you are prompted to migrate the data once the installation is complete.

Meet these additional requirements before you continue with the Vault installation.
Additional Requirements
- A DVD drive is required, to install off of disk.
- Operating Systems installation media.
- Internet connection for Web downloads, Subscription Aware access, and Vault Help.
- We recommend settings that allow Microsoft Windows to manage virtual memory as needed. Keep at least twice as much free hard disk space as system memory.
