This section discusses the use of Patran to examine finite element results generated by Helius PFA. It is assumed you are familiar with using Patran to view and post-process finite element results. Therefore, this section focuses on issues unique to the processes of examining and interpreting progressive failure results generated by Helius PFA. This section is divided into three parts, the first of which focuses on the generation of contour plots for the MCT state variables. The second part deals with the issue of correlating damage distribution with overall changes in structural stiffness, including the detection of global structural failure. The final section discusses how to interpret results from a progressive fatigue analysis.
