To Manage Data Shortcuts

You can use the Link To A Data Shortcut dialog box to repair broken data shortcuts and to replace drawing objects with data shortcut references.

To repair broken data shortcuts

  1. Validate data shortcuts and synchronize the reference objects.
  2. Click Manage tab Data Shortcuts panel Manage Data Shortcuts Find.
  3. In the Link To A Data Shortcut dialog box, select the Show Only Broken Data Shortcuts check box. This filters the Drawing Objects tree to show only the data shortcuts that are broken. Broken data shortcuts are marked with a warning icon: .
  4. Select a broken data shortcut.
  5. In the Data Shortcuts tree, select the data shortcut you want to link to. You can review the properties table below the Data Shortcuts tree to confirm that it is the correct shortcut to link to.
  6. Click Link To Data Shortcut .

    In the Drawing Objects tree, the selected item is changed to the name of the shortcut selected in the Data Shortcuts tree. In the properties table under the Drawing Objects tree, the Source File and Path information is updated.

To replace drawing objects with data shortcut references

  1. Validate data shortcuts and synchronize the reference objects.
  2. Click Manage tab Data Shortcuts panel Manage Data Shortcuts Find.
  3. In the Link To A Data Shortcut dialog box, ensure that the Show Only Broken Data Shortcuts check box is cleared.
  4. In the Drawing Objects tree, select a drawing object that you want to replace with a data shortcut reference.
  5. In the Data Shortcuts tree, select the data shortcut you want to link to. You can review the properties table below the Data Shortcuts tree to confirm that it is the correct shortcut to link to.
  6. Click Link To Data Shortcut .

    In the Drawing Objects tree, the selected item is changed to the name of the shortcut selected in the Data Shortcuts tree and it is marked with a data shortcut icon. In the properties table under the Drawing Objects tree, the Source File and Path information is updated.
