About Install Now

Install Now starts installation of your product directly from the web page where you have selected the download method.

Note: Install Now does not allow you to create a network deployment or install Autodesk products on a shared network drive. For deployments, use the Download Now option, use a browser-based download, or install from product media.

The first time you run it, Install Now installs Autodesk Download Manager (DLM) and the Akamai ^® NetSession Interface. DLM and NetSession do not contain adware or spyware, and do not collect or distribute any personal information.

Important: Keep the Autodesk download product page open until the product installer opens.You can use the Pause and Resume buttons during the download portions of the installation, but do not exit the installer before the process finishes.

Details

If prompted to download DLM, save and run AutodeskDownloadManagerSetup.exe. Follow the prompts to allow changes to your computer, accept the License and Services Agreement for DLM, and complete the installation.

When prompted, accept the license agreement. If prompted, approve the download. If you see a message asking what to do with the file, choose Run (not Save).

After installing a subset of products within a suite, you can restart Install Now and obtain other available products by clicking the desktop icon.

Troubleshooting

• Unable to Access Network Ports message. If you receive this message, open at least one HTTP port and one HTTPS port from the following list:
  • HTTP port 49176, 54176, or 63176
  • HTTPS port 49276, 54276, or 63276

  You may be able to open ports by closing applications. Then click Install Now again. After the installer opens, you can reopen applications.

• Slow start to a download. Network traffic can slow the Install Now download process. Unless you see an error message, be patient and allow the process to continue without interruption, or pause the download and resume it later.
• Connection Expired message. This message may appear if you try to run the Setup.exe file in the installer folder (at %SystemDrive%\Autodesk\<Product_name_version_Setup>). If you receive this message, restart the installation by navigating to the download web page and clicking Install Now for the product.
• Communication Failure message. You may receive this message in the following situations:
  • You downloaded an installer .exe file using Install Now and ran the installer, but exited before the installation was complete. In this case, you can't restart the same .exe file, and you receive a Communication Failure message. To resolve this issue, delete any product installation files you downloaded in your previous Install Now operation. These files are in the %SystemDrive%\Autodesk\<Product_name_version_Setup> folder. Clear your web browser's cache. Then reinstall the product using Install Now. If you see a message asking what to do with the file, choose Run (not Save). Make sure to complete the installation in a single session.
  • You're using Internet Explorer 11 on Windows 8.1. If so, try installing Microsoft Cumulative Security Update KB2888505. If this update does not resolve the issue, use the Advanced tab of Internet Explorer's Settings > Internet Options to deselect Enable Enhanced Protection Mode. Then restart Internet Explorer.
• Canceling from the Thank You dialog. To cancel an installation from the Thank You dialog, press Esc or use your browser's Back button.
• Install Now option not visible in Firefox. The Install Now option is not supported in Firefox 23 or later on an HTTPS portal.
• Installer doesn't launch. In some older browsers, if you download a product more than once, the installer does not launch. To solve this problem, delete the installer setup files (<ProductName_Year_Language_Platform_Version>_wi_<language>_Setup.exe) from the Downloads folder. Then refresh the browser page and click Install Now again.
• Security warning in Firefox. If you see the "You have requested an encrypted page" warning in Firefox, click OK within 10 seconds. If you do not click OK and the download is interrupted, restart the download. Be ready to click OK if you see the security warning again.

Removing Install Now files

To remove all traces of Install Now from your computer, first exit from DLM, and then uninstall DLM and Akamai NetSession Interface. (In Windows, use the Control Panel's Programs and Features dialog.)

Next, delete the configuration files:

• Find the file Setup_WIDownload.info in this location: {System drive}:\Autodesk\WI\<product name>.
• If the download.info file exists, find it by entering this path in Windows Explorer:

  %LOCALAPPDATA%\Autodesk\Autodesk Download Manager

  In Windows XP, use this string: %userprofile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\Autodesk Download Manager
