Analyze sight line, obstruction, and stopping distance information relative to particular points.
- Select a design road intersection.
- Click
Sight Distance Analysis. - Do the following:
- Specify the approach road.
- Specify whether to analyze stop control or yield control, or accept the default of no control.
Stop control simulates an intersection with stop signs. Drivers check their left and right visibility from stationary vehicles at the stopping lines.
Yield control simulates an intersection that might contain yield signs; no complete stop is required on approach. Drivers check their left and right visibility from vehicles in motion during approach.
No control simulates an intersection without traffic control signs or signals. Drivers should be able to see other vehicles in time to stop before entering the intersection.
- Select left-side or right-side driving.
- Select a maneuver pattern from the offerings.
- Select Road Decorations to include trees, barriers, lamps, and so forth on road median or curb side when checking for sight obstructions.
- Select from the offered obstruction types to include in the analysis.
- Click Analyze.
- When Visual Options appear on the Sight Distance panel, click the items you want to include in your analysis. For more information on the Visual Options, see About Sight Distance Analysis for Design Roads.
To clear the sight analysis from your model, close the Sight Distance panel.
Use the Sight Pin to display sight line, obstruction, and stopping distance information relative to particular points. Click Place Sight Pin, then click in the design road to place sight pins where you want to analyze sight distance.
