This exercise shows you how intersections are created automatically when you cross one design road with another. You will also see what happens when you move or delete a road.
Go to the bookmark Intersections Tutorial.
Open the Roadway Design tools and click Arterial Roads.
In the Catalog, enter "sidewalk" to narrow down the selection of styles.
Select the road style Street > Sidewalk and Greenspace from the catalog.
This is a standard style for urban streets. It also matches the style of the existing roads in this area of the model.
Close the Catalog.
Draw the road in a straight line from the curved road at the bottom to the road at the top.
Three intersections are created. One four-way intersection and two T-junctions.
Click away from the road to deselect it.
Click the central intersection to display the asset card.
Click the upper intersection and then the lower intersection on this road.
Intersections are highlighted in yellow.
Click away from the intersection to deselect it.
Draw another road at a 45 degree angle from the central road to the top road.
Click away from the road to deselect it.
Select the new road and drag the upper end into the intersection to the right.
A new, more complex intersection is formed.
Click the new intersection to display the asset card.
Select the new road and delete it.
The lower intersection disappears and the upper intersection reverts to its previous appearance as a simple T-junction.
