Roads Tutorial 3 Exercise 3: Converting an Intersection into a Roundabout
This exercise gives you an introduction to roundabouts, beginning with the simple step of creating one from an intersection. The exercise also shows you how to change the standard for the roundabout and how to do some manual editing.
Go to the bookmark Roundabouts.
Click the intersection in the center to select it and display the asset card.
On the asset card, under Junction Type click the Roundabout icon.
Note that in this case, there is not enough space to create a roundabout from this intersection.
Design standards are automatically enforced.
Click the Intersection icon to change this junction back to an intersection.
Select the intersection immediately above this one and click the Roundabout icon.
This time a roundabout is created because there is sufficient room for the arms.
Select the intersection to the right of this one and click the Roundabout icon.
Click away from the intersection to deselect it.
You now have two roundabouts.
Select the roundabout on the right.
Right-click and select Convert to Intersection.
The right-click menu is an alternate method of switching between intersection and roundabout.
Select the remaining roundabout.
On the asset card, under Standard, select Urban Compact Roundabout.
This is a smaller roundabout, better suited for this location.
Click an arm of the roundabout so that grips appear.
Grab one of the grips and reduce the length of the arm.
Repeat for the other arms.
Click away from the roundabout to deselect it and view the results.
