Import a polygonal area of interest under 200 kilometers in SHP file format to specify the extents of a Model Builder model.
- When you import a SHP file with a single polygon, Model Builder converts the polygon to an area of interest that you can select and edit.
- When you import multiple polygons in the same SHP file, Model Builder displays areas of interest wherever there are polygons in your SHP file. When you select an individual polygon, Model Builder converts it into an area of interest that you can edit. You can only use one area of interest at a time.
- Open Model Builder.
From InfraWorks 360 Home, click to expand a horizontal menu, and click Model Builder.
- Click .
- Navigate to the SHP file of interest, and select it.
Note: The SHP file must be under 5 MB in size.
- Click Open.
- Select the desired polygonal area of interest on the map.
Note: Your SHP file might include multiple polygonal areas. Before you select an area of interest, hover over each polygonal area to see the size of the area of interest.
- Select the area of interest again to display grips for individual vertices, which you can drag to modify the area of interest.
- When you are finished adjusting your area of interest, enter a model name and group, then click Create Model.
InfraWorks 360 sends an email notification to the email address associated with your Autodesk 360 account when Model Builder has finished loading the model.
Additional information
Model Builder converts multi-ringed polygons to individual polygons.
If your shapefile does not contain any polygons, Model Builder is unable to draw areas of interest on the map.
Model Builder does not allow you to select polygons that have more 1000 vertices, or polygons that intersect themselves.
Model Builder supports model areas up to 200 square kilometers or lengths up to 200 kilometers in latitude or longitude.
