Parts List

The Parts List annotation is enabled ONLY when Inventor data or DWF data with parts list information is available in the Publisher document. Parts lists are either Structured or Parts Only type based on how it was imported into Publisher. (See: Insert Options - BOM Type topic)

Select Create Auto Balloons to automatically generate balloon callouts for each component on the parts list.

Parts list items and balloons are associative: When you remove a row from the parts list, balloon associated with the removed row is automatically deleted. When you delete a balloon, the corresponding row is removed from the parts list.

Customize Fields - Adds, removes, and rearranges table columns.

Tip: To import values of custom iProperties from an Autodesk Inventor model, create custom properties with the same names as in the source model file. When you add the custom properties to the parts list, the imported iProperty values automatically display in the parts list table.

Export to CSV - Exports the table to CSV format to import in to excel.

Thumbnail Properties - Controls the thumbnail preview properties.

Display Row Count - Controls how many rows are visible per parts list page.

Select/Deselect All - Selects all rows in the table to be shown in the parts list.

Select - Selects specific components to be included in the parts list.

Use Parent - Overrides property values with values from the parent component.

Create Auto Balloons - Creates an automatic callout for all selected and visible components from the table.

Tip: To reorder items in the parts list, in the Edit Parts List dialog box, drag parts list rows to the desired positions.

Parts List Annotation Properties

Select a parts list in the canvas or in the browser to display the Annotation tab on the ribbon. Then set desired parts list properties.

• Font - Changes the font of the text in the parts list.
• Fill - Creates a background fill for the parts list.
• Outline - Controls the line width and color of the parts list lines.
• Keep On Top - Always keeps the parts list in the foreground.
• Text Alignment - Aligns the text in the parts list table in a variety of different ways.

Thumbnail Images in Parts Lists

Preview column lists a thumbnail of the component in the parts list. Various properties of the thumbnail can be changed in the create/edit parts list dialog.

• Size - Controls the size of the preview in pixels.
• View - Controls the default view of the component in the preview.
• Background - Changes the background of the preview.
• Rendering Style - Selects the component appearance style in the preview.

Note: Double-click a thumbnail to individually override the view, background, and style properties.

Auto Balloon

Auto generate a balloon annotation for each visible component from the parts list. Each balloon is a callout and has the same properties of a callout annotation. (See callout annotation)

Important: If a component visibility is turned off or obscured by other components, a balloon callout is not created. Such components can be included or excluded from the parts list table by selecting the appropriate option from the warning dialog.

Command Access:

1. Select the "Create Auto Balloon" option in the create parts list dialog box.

2. Right-click the parts list in the canvasAuto Balloon.

3. Right-click the parts list in the browserAuto Balloon.

Edit Parts List Data

Manually override any parts list data and revert back to original value. Overridden values are in BOLD in the Edit Parts List Data dialog.

Command Access:

1.Right-click the root componentParts ListEdit Parts List Data.

2.Right-click the parts list in the graphics windowEdit Parts List Data.

3.Right-click the parts list in the browserEdit Parts List Data.

• Override - Double-click to edit a cell value. Overridden values are in BOLD.
• Original value tooltip - Hover over an override cell and a tooltip with the original value is displayed.
• Remove Override - Right-click an override cell to remove override to original value.
• Delete - Right-click a custom parts list column to remove from parts list, and click Delete Column.
• Customize Fields - Click to open the Customize Fields dialog box. Then add or remove parts list columns. To create a custom column, enter the column name in the Create New Field edit box, and click add. Then move the new custom column to the list of fields displayed in the parts list.

Browser Representation

A parts list is represented in the browser under tables annotation. A balloon is represented in the browser under callout annotation.

Browser context menu:

• Edit Parts List - Edits a table to add/remove rows and columns.
• Edit Parts List Data - Overrides parts list data.
• Auto Balloon - Creates callouts for all selected and visible components from the table.
• Publish off Canvas - Option to publish table as a separate entity on a publish to word, Power point, and PDF.
• Export - Exports table to CSV format.
• Visibility - Controls visibility of table.
• Save Selection - Adds table to a selection set.
• Delete - Deletes the selected table.
