Bending curvature (Warp) result

The Bending curvature (Warp) result shows the final predicted amount of bending deformation during the warpage of the part. This result applies to Midplane models only.

For the facet shell elements, there are two principal bending axes. The Bending Curvature (Warp) result is the bending curvature in the principal bending axis with the larger magnitude.

This result is a useful indicator for examining where the significant bending occurs and the warpage deformation comes from. While the deflection will typically be greatest at the edges of the part, this deflection could originate from a bend in the part introduced somewhere else. If additional ribs or mold design changes are required to minimize the deflection, the changes need to be in the area of maximum bending, not in the area of maximum deflection.

Whereas a deflection result depends on the selection of anchor points or best fit settings, this new bending curvature result is independent of the warp visualization setting.

Note:
  • The availability of the Bending curvature (Warp) result requires the stress output in the Midplane warp setting dialog to be selected.
  • The previous Bending curvature result has been renamed Initial bending curvature.

This result is shows the initial curvature from asymmetric shrinkage in thickness direction before warpage. The new Bending curvature (Warp ) resuIt is the real bending curvature after warpage analysis, which should reflect the bending deformation in the warpage shape.
