You can send objects from Mudbox to Maya using the Send to Maya options in the Mudbox File menu. You can send new objects created in Mudbox, or update objects that you originally sent to Mudbox from Maya. Once you have applied paint layers or sculpt layers to an object in Mudbox, you can choose how to send those layers to Maya using the preferences associated with the Send to Maya options.
To send objects from Mudbox to Maya
- In Mudbox, select the object(s) you want to send.
Note: If you do not select a particular object, Mudbox sends all objects in the scene.
- Select File > Send to Maya, then select from the following options:
- Send Selected as New Scene: Opens a new scene in Maya, and sends the selected object(s) from Mudbox.
- Update Current Scene: Updates the scene with any paint or sculpt layers added in Mudbox.
Note: You can also click the Update button in the status bar to update the current scene.
- Update Textures in Current Scene: Updates only the textures of an object with paint layers from Mudbox.
- Add Selected to Current Scene: Adds the selected object(s) to the existing Maya scene.
- Select Previously Sent Objects: Selects the most recently sent object(s).
- Click Preferences to open the Send Preferences and control how paint and sculpt layers travel between applications.
For more information on the Send Preferences in Mudbox, refer to the Mudbox Help. For example, you can set sculpt layer preferences that determine whether sculpt layers are converted to blend shapes when sent to Maya.
A connection status indicator displays in the status bar when the applications are connected.
