Select the Long edges option from the Category list to check for any tetrahedra that have long edges. If the ratio of a tetrahedron's edge length, compared to the average surface mesh length, exceeds the defined value, the tetrahedron is said to have a long edge.
The default value is 3.0.

Dialog elements
When the Long edges text is selected from the Category section of the dialog, the following options appear.
- Issues
- The number of tetrahedra with long edges. The tetrahedra affected will be highlighted.
- Internal Long Edges
- The maximum edge length ratio in the part is noted.
- Target Value
- The maximum acceptable edge length ratio. Any ratios of a higher value will be reported in the issues column. The default value is 3.0.

- Isolate in Layer
- Click the Isolate in Layer button and the defective tetrahedra will be placed onto a diagnostic layer. This enables an easier location and repair of the mesh.
Tip: Use this option if you want to view how the mesh has been altered as a result of the repair, as only defective elements are shown in the model pane and, once repaired, will disappear from the view.
- Repair
- The Repair button will attempt to rectify all the defects found, update the Issues value, and refresh the model pane view after removing any repaired elements.
- Repair Checked
- Selected categories will be repaired where possible.
Note: Inverted Tetra and Collapsed Faces cannot be repaired automatically.
- Settings
- Opens the Settings for 3D Mesh Repair dialog. From within this dialog the scanned defect limits can be adjusted.
- Close
- Closes the dialog without making any further repairs.
