Exporting an ASCII model file

You can export model files as ASCII format with the extension *.udm, *.stl, or *.igs.

When exporting a model as an ASCII file, keywords, materials, and unused property sets will not be exported. Everything else will be exported to the specified file. Choose to export a *.udm file to make data available for Moldflow Manufacturing Solutions products.

  1. Click Application button then (Export > Model). The Export dialog opens.
  2. Navigate to the location where you want to store the model. By default, the file will be saved in the current project directory.
  3. In the File name box, enter a name of the model file.
  4. Select an ASCII export format from the Save as type drop-down list. Available export formats depend on the mesh type used in the current study.
  5. Click Save. Depending on the export format you selected, additional dialogs may appear to request further input or inform you of options. A confirmation dialog appears to inform you the model was saved successfully.
  6. Click OK.
