Workflow: BIM 360 Collaboration

Access BIM 360 models in Navisworks for a collaborative, connected experience.

This page provides a high level view of a BIM 360 connected workflow. You can open and append BIM 360 models, or append a local model a BIM 360 model, then align or edit models in Navisworks. Save back to BIM 360 to give your project team access to up-to-date coordinated models.

Sign in to BIM 360

When you click any button on the BIM 360 ribbon, you will be asked to log in to A360 using your Autodesk ID (if not already logged in). This automatically gives you access to your BIM 360 projects, providing you are a project member.

Open BIM 360 Model

  1. Click the Application button Open Open from BIM 360, or press Ctrl+B.
  2. Log in using your Autodesk ID, if necessary.
    Note: By default, the Model selection pane opens in the last project you worked on. If you have no active projects, the Projects panel opens for you to select a project.
  3. In the Model selection pane, click the Models or Merged Models tab.
  4. Scroll the Folders window and/or select a model from the Preview pane Open.
  5. To change projects at any time, click Projects.

Open BIM 360 Project

  1. In the BIM 360 panel, click Project.
  2. Log in using your Autodesk ID, if necessary.
  3. In the Project selection pane, select a project.

Append BIM 360 Model

  1. Click Home tab Append.
  2. In the Model selection pane, click the Models tab and select a model Append.
    Note: To append non-BIM 360 models, in the Model selection pane, click Append Local Model. If you are in standalone mode, you can append local models but not BIM 360 models.

Refresh BIM 360 Model

  1. Click BIM 360 tab Model panel Refresh.

    Any models that have been modified in BIM 360 Glue since commencing the session are reloaded.

Save Merged Model to BIM 360 Glue

  1. Click Save on the Quick Access Toolbar. Alternatively, click the Application button Save.
  2. In the BIM 360 window, select a destination folder and type a model name Save.
  3. To save as a new merged model or save in another BIM 360 folder, click the Application button Save As select a destination folder and type a name Save.
     Command entry: CTRL + S

Save As BIM 360 Model Locally

  1. Click the Application button Save As. Alternatively, in the BIM 360 window, click Save locally as a Navisworks file.
  2. In the Save As dialog, select a local folder, type a name and select file type from Navisworks NWF or NWD Save.

    The BIM 360 model is saved as a new local merged model.

Open Project Administration

  1. Click BIM 360 tab BIM 360 panel Project Admin.

    The BIM 360 Glue Project Administration page opens.

    Note: This option is enabled only if you have sufficient access permission.
