Generate New Models from Deflected Geometry

Use Results Options Other Tools Make FEM to generate a new geometry file (*.fem) from the current deflected shape. This is useful to run a separate analysis starting from the deflected shape due to this loading. The geometry will be saved with the current scale factor. Therefore, to get the exact deflected geometry, you must be using an Absolute Scale Factor of 1 in Results Contours Displacement Show Displaced Displaced Options. This option is available only in the Results environment when the displaced model is displayed.

Save Current Display Results to ASCII Text Files

Use Export All Results to generate a text file. This file will contain the current display results for every node. The node number and nodal coordinates will also be included in this file, and if the results are element-based (such as stresses), the element number and element node number are included as well. (This command is only available in the Results environment when a contour is currently displayed on the model.) The .out format will create a text file similar in format of the Inquire: Results dialog. The .csv format will create a comma-separated value file where each item on the row is separated by a comma; this format is convenient for importing into a spreadsheet and using the data for other purposes.

Use Results Options Other Tools Save Max/Min Results to generate a text file with a .var extension. This file will contain the maximum and minimum display values and the coordinates of each. This command is only available in the Results environment when a contour is currently displayed on the model.

Use Results Options Other Tools Save Maximum Results Summary to generate a text file that contains the largest result for each load case or time step. The .out format will create a text file identical in format of the Inquire: Maximum Results Summary dialog. The .csv format will create a comma-separated value file where each item on the row is separated by a comma; this format is convenient for importing into a spreadsheet and using the data for other purposes.

For the All Results, Max/Min Results, and Maximum Results Summary commands, a standard Windows-style save as dialog will appear. Choose the file name and location of the exported results. Activate the Append check box on the dialog before clicking the Save button to append the current results to an existing file. Otherwise, the existing file will be overwritten with the current results.

Showcase

Use Showcase to better present your simulation results.

You can export results to Showcase for all analysis types, result contours and element types that show a surface. You cannot export line element results except for beam elements with 3D Visualization active.

    Save Results to FBX Format

  1. Select the results for export.
  2. Click Results ContoursCapturesExport to ShowcaseSave file as.
  3. Enter an appropriate file name and click Save. Windows Explorer opens and displays the location to which you saved the fbx file. You can import the fbx file into Showcase.
Note: You can also open the fbx files with Autodesk Publisher, which gives you the ability to display results on tablets and smart phones.

    Open Results in Showcase

  1. Select the results for export.
  2. Click Results ContoursCapturesExport to ShowcaseOpen in Showcase.
  3. Click OK in the message box. Showcase opens and displays your results.
