Truss Tower Response Spectrum Analysis

In this tutorial, we perform a response spectrum analysis on a truss tower to determine the effect of an input spectrum applied to the base.  Engineers use response spectrum analyses to determine the structural response to sudden forces or shocks such as those occurring during an earthquake. Input spectra are often specified within building codes for particular geographic regions and are based on information gathered from past earthquakes.

Response spectrum solutions are known as restart analyses, specifically, modal superposition. That is, they require the natural frequency and mode shape results from a previously run modal analysis of the same model.
