Define the Material Properties

We will now assign the material properties to all four parts. We can assign the properties for the arm and knob at once since they have the same element type and material properties.

  1. Click the Material heading under Part 1 (Hand Wheel) in the browser (tree view) to select it.
  2. Holding down the Ctrl key, click the Material heading under Part 4 (Partial Link) in the browser to select it also.
  3. Right-click one of the two selected headings and choose Edit Material from the context menu.
    1. Select Brass, Red under the Brass folder  within the Element Material Selection dialog box.  The properties display in the section to the right.
    2. Click OK.
  4. Select the Material heading under Part 2 (Shaft Extension) in the browser.
  5. Hold  down the Ctrl key and click the Material heading under Part 3 (Crank) in the browser to select it also.
