Create the Model

1. Click New on the Quick Access Toolbar (QAT). The New dialog box displays.
   Note: If the Open dialog box is already displayed, such as when Simulation Mechanical is first started, click the New icon () at the left side of the dialog box to change to the new model mode.
   1. Click the FEA Model icon ().
   2. Ensure that the Analysis Type is set to Linear Static Stress with Linear Material Models.
   3. Click the New button.
      1. Navigate to the folder where you want to place the new model.
      2. Type 2-D Weldment in the File name field.
      3. Click Save.

   You are now in the FEA Editor environment, where construction of the 2D model can begin.
