Sending Objects to Print Studio

You can print 3D objects directly from 3ds Max using Print Studio, the 3D printing application provided with the Autodesk SPARK technology and the EMBER 3D Printer. The application is available only for 64-bit machines. See http://spark.autodesk.com for more information.

To install Print Studio:

  1. Select an object to export.
  2. Choose Application Menu > Send to Print Studio > Send as New Scene.

    If Print Studio is not installed, a message box will appear.

  3. Click the Download button to download the installer.
  4. Run the installer to install Print Studio.

To send a 3D Object to Print Studio:

  1. Select the object to export.
  2. If you don't select an object, all objects in the scene will be sent.

  3. Orient the model with either Y or Z as the up axis. Print Studio imports objects with Z up by default, but you can set this to Y up in File > Preferences in Print Studio.
  4. Choose Application Menu > Send to Print Studio > Send as New Scene.
  5. When Print Studio opens, select whether to print to a USB or Network Printer or save the object to file to be printed later.
  6. Select the model of supported 3D printer:

    •Autodesk Ember

    •Dremel 3D Idea Builder

    •Makerbot Replicator® 2

    •Printrbot Play

    •Printrbot Plus

    •Printrbot Simple

    •Type A Machines Series 1

    •Ultimaker B.V. Ultimaker 2
