Conical & Twisted folded plates

Conical shaped as well as square, round, elliptical and twisted folded plates can be automatically created. Starting from the selected contours, the software calculates the shape and creates joined triangular and trapezoid facets according to the selected contour shape. The amount of facets is defined at creation.

Conical folded plates

You can create conical plates starting from two closed contours or from beams.

To access the command

Ribbon: Objects > Plates:

Command line: _AstM4CommCrConicalFoldedPlate

To create a conical plate starting from contour lines

  1. Draw 2 circles or ellipses in parallel planes using the drawing tools.
  2. On the Objects tab, Plates tab: Click .
  3. On the command line, type C (Contour) to define the start shape type and press <Enter>.
  4. Select the first circle or ellipse and press <Enter>.
  5. On the command line, type C (Contour) to define the start shape type and press <Enter>.
  6. Select the other circle or ellipse and press <Enter>.
  7. In the properties dialog box, make the necessary settings:
  • Facets per corner/quadrant: Define the number of facets.
  • Plate thickness: Define the plate thickness.

To create a conical plate between two beams

  1. On the Objects tab, Plates tab: Click .
  2. On the command line, type B (Beam) for the start shape type and press <Enter>.
  3. Select the first beam at the reference end.
  4. On the command line, type B (Beam) for the start shape type and press <Enter>.
  5. Select the second beam at the reference end.
  6. In the properties dialog box, make the necessary settings:
  • Facets per corner/quadrant: Define the number of facets.
  • Plate thickness: Define the plate thickness.

Twisted folded plates

You can create twisted plates starting from two contours.

To access the command

Ribbon: Objects > Plates:

Command line: _AstM4CommCrTwistedFoldedPlate

To create a twisted plate starting from polylines

  1. Draw 2 polylines in parallel planes using the drawing tools.
  2. On the Objects tab, Plates tab: Click .
  3. Select the first polyline.
  4. Select the second polyline.
  5. In the properties dialog box, make the necessary settings:
    • Number of division points: Define the number of facets.
    • Plate thickness: Define the plate thickness.
