We have enhanced the BOM dialog box and Parts List dialog boxes with new capabilities this release.
Typically the workflow used to add items to the BOM requires you to create part references in the drawing area. We now support a reverse workflow as well.
This reverse workflow allows you to create the BOM first, by adding user-defined items or by importing from a spreadsheet or database. After that you create part references from each user-defined item. The part references you create in this manner are identical to the part references created by the AMPARTREF command.
You can now quickly locate objects associated with BOM items by selecting them in the BOM or Parts List dialog boxes and zooming to them or highlighting them.
The part references created by the new functionality is identical to the part references created by the AMPARTREF command in older versions of AutoCAD Mechanical. Hence, no information is lost when you save drawings containing these part references, to older versions of AutoCAD Mechanical.
