Install the MotionBuilder Help

By default, the MotionBuilder product launches MotionBuilder Help from the Internet, but you can instead use a local copy of the Help.

If you prefer to have the English or Japanese MotionBuilder Help available on your OS within the MotionBuilder software product, you need to install the Help and change the default Help preference setting by performing the applicable procedures.

Prepare to install the MotionBuilder Help

Before you install the MotionBuilder Help, ensure you have done the following:

• Install MotionBuilder.
• Download the compressed Help file from the MotionBuilder 2017 documentation page.
• Extract the files from the compressed file to the desired location.
  Note: You can choose to install the MotionBuilder Help on a shared location such as an internal network or web server. To do so, you must copy the docs directory to a shared location.

When choosing a shared location, ensure that the directory path to the MotionBuilder Help does the following:

• Points directly to the Help location. For example, \\CompanyServer\SharedLocation\MotionBuilderHelp\docs\MotionBuilder2017\en_US.

  Does not use an alias path.

• Points to the directory containing the index.html file. For example, the path pointing to the English MotionBuilder Help ends at the \en_US directory.
• Uses either http or https protocol for a web server location.

Note: Help preferences must be set in the MotionBuilder product on each computer to access the Help at the new location.
