Send models to Print Studio for 3D printing

You can now send Maya models to Print Studio where you can set them up for 3D printing. Select the model and choose File > Send to Print Studio - see Send objects to Print Studio.

ATF support

This release of Maya supports Autodesk Translation Framework (ATF), which replaces DirectConnect for file import and export.

FBX Version 2017.0.1

This Extension release for Maya picks up the latest version of FBX (2017.0.1), which provides various bug fixes, in addition to providing support for HumanIK roll bones and the new LOD improvements.

See FBX Version in Advanced options for the complete list of supported FBX export formats.

Zoom-in view

To zoom in on the view under the mouse pointer, such as the View Panel or Graph Editor, press Shift + Spacebar. This collapses all other panes docked in the main window. It is similar to Ctrl + Spacebar for full-screen view, but it does not hide UI elements such as the Status Line, Shelf, Time Slider, and so on. If the mouse pointer is over a floating window or another part of the interface, such as the Channel Box or Tool Settings, it affects the last view you clicked in. Press Shift + Spacebar again to restore the previous viewing configuration.

New Qt and PySide versions

Maya now uses Qt version 5.6.1 and PySide version 2.0.

Render tab in Layer Editor not displayed by default

The Render Layer Editor that was available via a tab in the Layer Editor in previous versions has been replaced by the new Render Setup system (see Render setup in Maya). If you want to use the legacy Render Layer system, open the Preferences window, select the Rendering category, and then select Legacy Render Layers as the Preferred Render Setup system.

Commands in Display and Windows menu have moved

The UI Elements menu that lets you toggle the display of all panels has moved from the Display to the Windows menu.

The Frame All in All Views and Frame Selection in All Views commands have moved from the Windows to the Display menu.

Increased control over the exclusion of attributes from lock operation during file referencing

When locking attributes of referenced files, you now have more control over the attributes that you can exclude from the lock operation. For example, you can now exclude individual attributes on only particular nodes, or exclude all attributes of specific nodes.
