What's New in Character Animation

Shape Editor Improvements

A number of improvements have been made to Shape Authoring workflows in the Shape Editor, including:
  • You can now merge multiple targets on the same blend shape. See Merge target shapes.
  • In-between targets now have a visibility toggle button like target shapes so you can show and hide their effects on a mesh. See Edit target shapes.
  • When creating combination shapes via the Shape Editor, you can now choose the method by which the driver targets affect it. See Create combination target shapes.
Note: The Shape Editor was introduced in Maya 2016 Extension 2. The new Shape Editor replaces the Blend Shape Editor as the place to create, edit, and manage shapes. New features include soloing, grouping, mirroring, flipping, duplicating, and importing and exporting shapes. For details, see What's New in Character Animation in Autodesk Maya 2016 Extension 2.

Clone Target Tool

You can now use the Clone Target Tool to copy edits from one blendshape to another when using a Shape Authoring workflow.
