Set up layers for baking with Turtle

To perform baking on an object it must be assigned to a bake layer.

To create bake layers and assign objects

  1. Do either of the following:
    • In the Shading menu set, select Texture Baking > Assign New Bake Layer (TURTLE) (to add selected objects to a new bake layer) or Texture Baking > Assign Existing Bake Layer (TURTLE) > (to select an existing layer where you want to add the selected objects).
    • Select Window > Material/Texture Baking Editors > TURTLE > Bake Layer Editor to open the Turtle Bake Layer Editor, which also lets you create and edit bake layers.

In the Bake Layer Editor, use the following guidelines to organize bake layers and bake layer objects.

To... Do this

Create new layers, delete or edit the selected layer

Click New Layer, Delete Layer, or Edit Layer below the Bake Layer list.

Assign an object to a layer

Select the layer from the Bake Layer list, select the objects in the scene view, then click Add Selected under the Target Surfaces list.

Note: You can select multiple items in the Surfaces lists when you add, remove, and select actions.

Remove objects from a layer

Select the objects in the Target Surfaces list and click Remove. (Click Clear All to remove all objects at once.)
