Turtle uses a layer system to set up baking. Each bake operation you initiate operates on a specific bake layer, and each bake layer can hold different settings. This lets you separate different baking setups into different bake layers. See also

Important: The Turtle baker does not support ShaderFX shaders or the Stingray PBS shader. To create light maps with global illumination, use a Phong shader instead.
- In the
Texture Baking Settings window (Window > Material/Texture Baking Editors > Texture Baking Settings), set the main
Type setting to
Bake.
- In the
Baking tab of the
Texture Baking Settings, ensure the bake layer you want is selected in the
Bake Layer drop-down list.
- Specify any other settings you want in the
Texture Baking Settings window. (Settings under tabs other than
Baking can still affect baking. )
- Click
(the
Texture Bake icon) in the
Texture Baking shelf, or select
Texture Baking > Bake from the main menu bar.
During texture baking, the result displays in the
Texture Baking View.
